#9: Patience ...

There are time as a coach when you become impatient with the client because the answers seem obvious. From the client's viewpoint this is not always the case, and as there is a clear distinction between the role of mentor and coach there is a need to let the client progress at their own pace.

There are times when it is the right thing to do to 'switch hats' from coach to mentor - but if you do ensure that you have permission from client to do so.And be very clear when you are switching from one to another and back again.

Be prepared to be very patient the individual will have the answers, but it takes time.
